Welcome! We are so glad you found us. We may be on the National Register of Historic Places, but our philosophy is completely modern.
This past year, over 43,000 of you visited us. Our public access computers were used over 13,000 times and our free wireless internet was used well over 1,000 times.
Additionally, our three meeting rooms were used 116 times by 2,109 people and we answered close to 4,000 reference questions. AND we employ a published author.
On average, we receive 60 new patrons per month. This is pretty impressive considering our public library building has been serving Yazoo County since 1902 and the total population of Yazoo County is just under 28,000.
Did I mention that our reference librarian, local historian and author John Ellzey, was nominated for the American Library Association’s librarian of the year award?
Still not convinced how truly awesome we are? Read the American Library Association’s I Love Libraries webpage or better yet, come visit us. We’ll be happy to give you a tour of the oldest library in continuous use in Mississippi, assist you with your genealogy project, help you with your resume, recommend a good book, assist you with your research project, let you use one of our meeting rooms, show you a comfy spot to use our free wireless internet…… and the list goes on!
